"After taking this class I have a much greater appreciation for all writing and scripts of all kinds. I might not be able to walk down a street in Chinatown and read a single thing, but I now understand the rudimentary functions of all language and how much the concept of a writing system can affect human interaction. I used to always take writing for granted and assumed it was just a basic human ability and never thought about who, when, or why it was invented in the first place. I can now go on with my life and actively see and observe the effects of writing systems on my everyday life."
